Tags: None Skipping a day, Glycemic Index, etc...Posted in Being Fat in 2010 on January 20, 2010 by Todd Larson Hey folks, sorry about yesterday. I had a great day and got a lot done around the house. I just didn't feel like sitting down all day. This new medication has really put a lot of energy in me. This morning I was doing some research. I did the NutriSystem diet quite awhile ago with a friend of mine. We both did the diet together and it got me thinking about Glycemic Index. Now I know some of you could careless about sugar, but it's a big deal even if you aren't a diabetic. When your system goes through big sugar spikes you aren't losing weight for at all. The reason why is really kind of simple. Your body burns glucose for energy. If you are trying to lose weight, you want to burn fat. So if you load your body with foods that spike your sugar level, your body will product insulin to deal with the sugar. The insulin will run around your body and open your cells up to that glucose (sugar) and your body will feed. It doesn't need to hit your fat stores at all because there is plenty of wonderful sugar floating around and the insulin your body is creating makes it so easy... Tags: None New Meds, New ResultsPosted in Being Fat in 2010 on January 19, 2010 by Todd Larson So the insurance company and the Doctor had a pow-wow and decided that it would be fair (to the insurance company) if the Doctor tried giving me Glipizide with my Metformin to help augment the glucose reduction BEFORE they spent 310 bucks on the shot he wanted to give me. For ONCE I have to say I was happy to hear that. So YAY for the insurance company for putting the Doctor in check this time :) Score a win for me: No Shots. This morning I woke up and took my blood sugar it was 246. I took that Glipizide (it said to do it about 30 min before eating to maximize the effect) and I ate some bacon/eggs (ala atkins-ish diet, I'm still trying to stay away from sugar, although I did cheat last night and put two pieces of bread and a slice of cheese with some steak to make a steak sandwich for dinner, which is probably why my blood sugar was 246 this morning).
